The Story of Daim Bars
How Daim Was Created
The Daim bar was first made by a company called Marabou. This happened in Sweden in the 1950s. Marabou wanted to make a chocolate bar like the American Heath bar. They asked for the Heath bar's secret recipe. The Heath Company said no, but they did share a list of ingredients.
Marabou then used this list to create their own unique recipe. They tested their new chocolate bar in Stockholm in 1952. It was a big hit right away!
Daim's First Launch
The chocolate bar was first launched in 1953. It was called Dajm back then. It became popular in Sweden and Norway. Later, it was introduced in Finland in 1963. Denmark started selling it in 1971.
Changing the Name to Daim
In 1990, the name was changed to "Daim" in most countries. However, in the United Kingdom and Ireland, it was still called "Dime". In 2005, the name in the UK and Ireland also changed to "Daim". This made the name the same all over the world.
Daim's Fun Commercials
Daim bars have had some famous TV commercials. In 1995, a funny ad in the UK featured comedian Harry Enfield. A salesman described the Daim bar as "smooth on the outside, crunchy on the inside." A customer joked that he preferred armadillos, which are "smooth on the inside, crunchy on the outside."
Another popular ad came out in 1996. It was a spoof of the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. An adventurer used a Daim bar to avoid a trap. But then he went back for the chocolate bar, risking the crumbling temple!
Different Kinds of Daim Bars
Exploring Daim Flavors
Over the years, many different kinds of Daim bars have been released. In 2007, a special 'Limited Edition Cappucino' Daim bar came out. There have also been limited edition forest fruit, Coke, white chocolate, and dark chocolate Daim bars.
Other exciting flavors include blueberry, lemon-orange, and mint Daim. In winter 2023, an orange chocolate Daim was sold in the UK and Ireland. More recently, caramel latte and strawberry Daim bars have been available.
