Daniel Trevor Christian, born on May 4, 1983, is an Australian professional cricketer. He has Aboriginal heritage. Dan is known as a Twenty20 (T20) cricket expert. He played for many teams around the world.
Dan is famous for hitting the ball hard when batting. He is also a good medium-fast bowler. Cricket experts call him a "natural all-rounder." This means he is good at both batting and bowling. He is a role model for Indigenous Australians who play cricket.

Early Life
Dan Christian was born in 1983. He grew up in a town called Narrandera in New South Wales, Australia. His family has British, Irish Catholic, and Australian Indigenous Wiradjuri roots.
He lived in Narrandera until he was 13 years old. Then, he moved to Sydney to go to St Gregory's College, Campbelltown.
Dan Christian's Cricket Journey
In 2003, Dan Christian attended the Australian Cricket Academy. This is a special school for talented young cricketers.
He started playing List A cricket for New South Wales in 2006. After a couple of seasons, he moved to South Australia. There, he began playing first-class cricket for the state team.
In 2009, Dan was the captain of an Indigenous Australian cricket team. This team went on a tour to England. Experts noted that Dan could hit the ball very powerfully. He was known for being a rare player who could hit big shots right away.
International Debut
Dan joined Australia's Twenty20 International team in February 2010. His first international game was against the West Indies. The next month, he was chosen for Australia's team in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
In March 2012, Dan had an amazing game against Sri Lanka. He took 5 wickets for only 31 runs. This included a hat-trick, where he got three wickets in a row. Even with his great performance, Australia did not win that match.
In August 2021, Dan Christian made history. He scored 30 runs in just one over during a T20 International against Bangladesh. He hit five sixes in that single over. This made him the first Australian to do so in a T20 International game. Later that month, he was named as a backup player for Australia's team in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Playing Around the World
Dan Christian played for many different cricket teams globally. He was a popular player in T20 leagues.
- He played for Hampshire in England in 2010. They won the Twenty20 Cup that year.
- He joined the Deccan Chargers in the DLF IPL (Indian Premier League). He was bought for a large sum of money.
- Later, he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
- In England, he also played for Gloucestershire Gladiators in 2013.
- The next year, he played for Middlesex Panthers. During one game, he scored 129 runs, which included ten sixes. This was the highest score by a batsman in a T20 game at the St Lawrence Ground.
- In 2015, Dan joined Nottinghamshire. He had great success with them in the t20 Blast competition.
- He also played for the Rising Pune Supergiants and the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL.
- In 2018, he scored his first T20 hundred for the Notts Outlaws.
- He played for the Jozi Stars in the Mzansi Super League in South Africa.
- In 2020, he led the Notts Outlaws to victory in the T20 Blast. He was named man of the match for his performance.
- He also played for the Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.
Retirement and Return
Dan Christian retired from cricket in 2023. However, in early January 2025, he made a surprise return. He joined the Sydney Thunder team for the rest of the 2024–25 Big Bash League season. He had been working as an assistant coach for the Thunder. He came back to play because the team had many injured players.
Books
In 2022, Dan Christian wrote a book with Gideon Haigh. It is called The All-rounder - The inside story of big time cricket. The book shares his experiences playing cricket in 2021. This included his time with RCB, Australia, and in The Hundred.
