Daniel Trevor Christian (born 4 May 1983) is an Australian professional cricket player. He has Aboriginal family roots. Dan is known for being a great player in Twenty20 (T20) cricket. He has played for many teams around the world.
Christian is famous for hitting the ball very hard and for being a useful medium-fast bowler. This means he is a true All-rounder, good at both batting and bowling. He is also seen as a role model for Australia's Indigenous people in cricket.

Early Life and Background
Dan Christian was born in 1983. He grew up in a town called Narrandera in New South Wales, Australia. His family has British, Irish Catholic, and Australian Indigenous Wiradjuri heritage.
When he was 13, Dan moved to Sydney. He went to St Gregory's College, Campbelltown to continue his studies.
Cricket Journey
In 2003, Dan Christian joined the Australian Cricket Academy. This is a special place where young players train to become top cricketers.
He started playing List A cricket for New South Wales in 2006. After a couple of years, he moved to South Australia. There, he quickly began playing first-class cricket for their state team.
In 2009, Christian was the captain of an Indigenous Australian cricket team. They went on a tour to England. People noticed that Dan was a very strong hitter, especially in T20 games. He was known for hitting the ball far and accurately.
International Debut
Because of his strong performances, Dan was chosen for Australia's Twenty20 International team. He made his first T20 International appearance in February 2010. This match was against the West Indies.
The next month, he was picked for Australia's team in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. This is a big international competition for T20 cricket.
Playing Around the World
Dan Christian has played for many different cricket teams globally.
- In 2010, he played for Hampshire in England. They won the Twenty20 Cup that year.
- He also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for teams like Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- In March 2012, he achieved something special in an ODI match against Sri Lanka. He took 5 wickets for only 31 runs, which included a hat-trick. A hat-trick is when a bowler takes three wickets in three balls.
- He played for several other English county teams, including Gloucestershire and Middlesex.
- In 2015, he joined Nottinghamshire. He helped them win the t20 Blast competition in 2020.
- He also played in the Mzansi Super League in South Africa for Jozi Stars and the Pakistan Super League for Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.
Later Career Highlights
In August 2021, Dan Christian made history in a T20 International against Bangladesh. He hit 30 runs in just one over, including five sixes! This made him the first Australian to hit five sixes in a single T20 International over.
Later that month, he was named as a backup player for Australia's team in the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
In early 2025, Dan Christian came out of retirement to play for the Sydney Thunder. He had been working as an assistant coach for them. He returned to help the team because many players were injured.
Books
In 2022, Dan Christian wrote a book called The All-rounder - The inside story of big time cricket. He wrote it with Gideon Haigh. The book shares his experiences in cricket during 2021, including his time with Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Australian team, and in The Hundred competition.
