Daniel Jacob Stern (born August 28, 1957) is an American actor, artist, and director. He is famous for playing Marv Murchins in the movies Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). He also played Phil Berquist in City Slickers (1991) and City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold (1994).
Many people know his voice as the grown-up Kevin Arnold on the TV show The Wonder Years. He was also the voice of Dilbert in the animated series. Daniel Stern has been in many other movies like Breaking Away (1979), Diner (1982), and Hannah and Her Sisters (1986). He also directed the movie Rookie of the Year (1993).

Early Life and Acting Start
Daniel Stern was born in Bethesda, Maryland. His father was a social worker and his mother ran a day care center. He is Jewish. His brother, David M. Stern, is a TV writer.
When he was in high school, Daniel acted in many school plays. He played Chuck Baxter in Promises, Promises and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. He even got a small acting role in a Shakespeare play called The Taming of the Shrew, which starred Glenn Close.
He left high school early and moved to New York City. There, he took acting lessons and started performing in plays both Off Broadway and on Broadway. He acted in many different theaters, including The Public Theater and Manhattan Theater Club.
Career Highlights
Daniel Stern started his film career in 1979 with the movie Breaking Away. He then appeared in the action thriller Blue Thunder in 1983. One of his early important roles was Laurence "Shrevie" Schreiber in the movie Diner. He also worked with famous director Woody Allen in films like Stardust Memories and Hannah and Her Sisters.
Daniel Stern is well-known for his funny roles. He played Phil Berquist in the City Slickers movies and Marv, the clumsy burglar, in the first two Home Alone films. He decided not to return for the fourth Home Alone movie. He also starred as Max in Bushwhacked.
He was the voice of the narrator for the popular TV series The Wonder Years. In this show, he played the adult Kevin Arnold, who looked back on his childhood. Daniel Stern and Fred Savage, who played young Kevin, also appeared together in the movie Little Monsters. In 1998, Daniel took on a more serious role in the movie Very Bad Things. He also voiced the main character of the Dilbert animated TV series.
Besides acting, Daniel Stern has directed several episodes of The Wonder Years. He also directed the 1993 movie Rookie of the Year, which he also starred in. More recently, he directed two episodes of the TV series Manhattan.
Daniel also created, wrote, and starred in the CBS television show Danny. He wrote a play called Barbra's Wedding, which was very popular off-Broadway. He was also in the movie Game Over, Man! (2018) and the Hulu series “Shrill,” where he played the main character’s father.
Personal Life
Daniel Stern is also a talented artist. He creates sculptures out of bronze. He has made art for public projects in many California cities. He is an artist in residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Centre.
He married actress Laure Mattos in 1980. They have three children together. One of their children is Henry Stern, who is a politician in California.
