Danny Gabbidon was born in Cwmbran, Wales. He started playing youth football for local teams like Court Farm. Later, he joined Cwmbrân Town. Danny began his professional career at West Bromwich Albion. He joined them as a young player in November 1996. He became a full professional in July 1998.
Gabbidon first played for Albion on 20 March 1999. It was a home game against Ipswich Town. He played as a right-back. Danny made 27 appearances for West Brom. After a new manager, Gary Megson, arrived, Danny found it hard to keep his spot. He then joined Cardiff City on a short loan.
Time at Cardiff City
Danny Gabbidon signed a full contract with Cardiff City in September 2000. The fee was about £500,000. His strong play in the 2001–02 season helped Cardiff reach the play-offs. He also made his first senior appearance for Wales in March 2002. In October 2002, he won the Welsh clubman of the year award.
Danny signed a new contract with Cardiff in April 2002. He felt excited about the team's future. A back injury caused him to miss games in November 2002. He returned in April 2003. Danny helped Cardiff win promotion to Division 1 through the play-offs. He missed some games in 2003–04 due to a heel injury.
Despite injuries, Danny played very well as a centre-half. In April 2004, he was named in the First Division team of the year. There was talk that Danny might leave Cardiff. However, he signed a new contract in September 2004. This kept him at the club until 2008.
Cardiff faced a tough time in the 2004–05 season. They were fighting to avoid being relegated. But an unbeaten run in January 2005 helped them move away from the relegation zone. Danny was named the Championship's player of the month. Due to money problems at Cardiff, Danny was sold to West Ham United in July 2005.
Playing for West Ham United

Danny moved to West Ham in July 2005. Another defender, James Collins, also joined the club. Danny's great performances for Wales earned him the Welsh Footballer of the Year award in October 2005. He became a key player in central defence.

In the 2006–07 season, West Ham struggled. Danny suffered a torn hamstring in November 2006. This kept him out for a month. He needed surgery for groin injuries in January and April 2007. These injuries meant he missed the rest of the season.
Danny signed a new two-year contract in August 2007. Injuries kept him from playing for West Ham from December 2007 until August 2009. He returned in a League Cup game against Millwall. Danny was one of many Premier League players who used Twitter to talk with fans. In May 2011, he was fined £6,000 by the Football Association. This was for comments he made on Twitter after a game. Danny left West Ham in June 2011.
