David Curtiss's Swimming Career

Becoming a Young Swimming Star (2014–2016)

When David was 11, the swimming news site SwimSwam noticed him. They called him a "Weekly Wonder of Age Group Swimming." This was because he swam the 50-freestyle almost three seconds faster than the year before. He earned this honor two more times. These were in 2015 and 2016. Both times were for his great swims in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard backstroke.

Teenage Success in Swimming (2018–2020)

In April 2018, Curtiss swam his fastest 50-yard freestyle time yet. He finished in 19.75 seconds. This made him the fifth fastest American swimmer in history for boys aged 15–16. He was just behind famous swimmer Michael Andrew.

He competed in three events at the 2019 National Championships. This was in July and August 2019 in Stanford, California. He placed 5th in the 50-meter freestyle.
