Delavan (pronounced DEL-uh-vuhn) is a small city located in Faribault County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2010, about 179 people lived there. It is a quiet community with a history connected to the railroad.

Delavan's Story: How It Started
Delavan began in 1870. It was platted, which means its streets and lots were officially mapped out. This happened when the railroad tracks were extended to that spot. The city was named after Oren Delavan Brown, who was an important official for the railroad.
A post office opened in Delavan in 1870, first called "Delavan Station." Its name was changed to simply "Delavan" in 1885. The city officially became an incorporated city in 1877.
