Where Did the Dhund Abbasi Come From?
The Dhund Abbasi people have a long history. Their ancestors came to the area that is now Pakistan a very long time ago. They were traders and merchants from Egypt, selling valuable goods like fabrics, perfumes, and sparkling diamonds.
Around the year 1232, they set up a community near Delhi. Later, a leader named Sardar Tolak Khan moved to the Kashmir region. He settled in the Poonch area, which is now part of the Bagh District in Azad Kashmir.
Connecting to the Abbasid Dynasty
The Dhund Abbasi tribe believes their family line goes back to a very important historical figure named Al-‘Abbas ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib. He was an uncle of the Prophet Muhammad.
His descendants became known as the Abbasid dynasty. This powerful family took control of the Muslim empire in 750 CE. They ruled for about 500 years from their capital city, Baghdad, in what is now Iraq. The Abbasid empire was very large, stretching across Afghanistan and into the eastern parts of modern-day Pakistan. The Dhund Abbasi people are proud to be connected to this ancient and powerful family.
