Diane Stanley (born December 27, 1943) is an American children's author and illustrator. She is famous for writing and drawing many books for young readers.

About Diane Stanley
Diane Stanley was born in Abilene, Texas. She went to Trinity University for her first degree. Later, she studied medical illustration at Johns Hopkins University College of Medicine. This means she learned to draw pictures for medical books!
Diane Stanley has created over sixty books for children. She is especially known for her picture books about famous people. These books are called biographies.
Some of her most famous books include:
- Shaka, King of the Zulus: This book was named a "New York Times Best Illustrated Book."
- Leonardo da Vinci: This book won the Orbis Pictus Award. This award is for amazing nonfiction books for kids.
Many of her books have also been recognized as American Library Association Notable Books. She has won the Boston Globe/Hornbook Award twice. She also received the Society of Children's Book Writers' Golden Kite Award two times. These awards show how much her work is loved and respected. She even received the Washington Post/Children's Book Guild Award for all her wonderful books.
Diane Stanley has three grown children. Today, she lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her husband, Peter Vennema.
