Disney Junior is a special TV channel in Latin America. It's like the American Disney Junior, but made for kids in Latin American countries. This channel is perfect for young children, especially preschoolers.
It broadcasts in three main versions: North Zone, South Zone, and Brazil. Disney Junior is managed by Disney & ESPN Media Networks Latin America and The Walt Disney Company Latin America. Both are part of The Walt Disney Company.
The channel first started on June 1, 2008. Back then, it was called Playhouse Disney Channel. Before it became its own channel, Playhouse Disney was a block of shows on Disney Channel Latin America. Even today, you can still find a "Disney Junior" block of shows on Disney Channel. The shows on Disney Junior Latin America are very similar to those on Disney Junior in the United States. However, the channel also airs shows that aren't originally from Disney.
On December 23, 2010, The Walt Disney Company Latin America announced a big change. Playhouse Disney Channel would become Disney Junior in 2011. This change happened on April 1, 2011. It was also when a new show called The Garden of Clarilu first aired.
