Dolores Peak is a very tall mountain in the San Miguel Mountains. This mountain range is part of the larger Rocky Mountains in North America.
Dolores Peak is known as a "thirteener" because it stands at 13,296-foot (4,053 m) (about 4,053 meters) above sea level. This makes it one of the highest peaks in the area!
You can find Dolores Peak inside the Lizard Head Wilderness. This wilderness area is a special place where nature is protected. The mountain is located in Colorado, United States. It's about 26.9 kilometers (or 16.7 miles) west-southwest of the town of Telluride.
The peak sits right on a drainage divide. This is like a natural boundary line. On one side, you have the San Juan National Forest and Dolores County. On the other side, there's the Uncompahgre National Forest and San Miguel County.
