About Domenico Picciché
Domenico Picciché was born in Alcamo, a town in Sicily, Italy. He started playing the piano when he was just six years old. He was a very good student and finished high school with top honors.
Early Music Studies
When he was only 18, in 1988, he earned a special diploma in piano from the Vincenzo Bellini Music Conservatory in Palermo. He received this diploma with great praise, showing he was an excellent student.
He had the chance to study piano with many famous teachers. These included Jörg Demus, Maria Tipo, and Aldo Ciccolini. He also learned about composing music and understanding music from other experts.
Awards and Competitions
Domenico Picciché has won several important awards for his piano playing. He received a prize at the "Ibla Grand Prize International Piano Competition." He also won first place at the "Città di Roma" Competition. At another international competition in Enna, he won second prize, with no first prize being given out.
Piano Transcriptions
Domenico Picciché is very good at something called "piano transcription." This is when a piece of music written for other instruments or a full orchestra is rewritten to be played only on the piano. He has found and played many transcriptions by famous and less-known musicians. He has also created his own piano transcriptions. Some of these include La Valse by Maurice Ravel and Scaramouche by Darius Milhaud.

Domenico Picciché has performed in many famous concert halls all over the world. He has played in New York City at Alice Tully Hall, part of Lincoln Center. Law and Education
Besides his music career, Domenico Picciché also studied law. He graduated with honors from Palermo University. His main project was about how artistic creation and performance relate to the law. He is one of the first people in Italy to study a field called Entertainment Law. This area of law deals with the rules and rights in the entertainment industry.
He writes for important publishing companies in Italy, like Arnoldo Mondadori Editore.
Today, he is a professor of both Pianoforte and Law at the Palermo National Conservatory of Music in Italy. He used to be the Vice Director at the Trapani National Conservatory of Music. He also helps evaluate universities in Italy for a national agency.
A TV show in Italy, "Tutta la musica del cuore," was inspired by his efforts to bring fairness and proper rules to the Conservatory of Music in Trapani.
