Donalsonville is a city in Seminole County, Georgia, United States. It is also the county seat, which means it's the main town where the county government is located. In 2020, about 2,833 people lived there.

History of Donalsonville
Donalsonville was first part of Decatur County. The city is named after John Ernest Donalson, a well-known businessman. He built the first lumber mill in the area, called Donalson Lumber Company. This company helped the town grow by providing jobs and homes for workers.
Donalsonville officially became a town in Georgia on December 8, 1897. When Seminole County was created in January 1920, Donalsonville was chosen as its county seat. By August 1922, the town became known as the City of Donalsonville. The Seminole County Courthouse, built in 1922, is still standing today. It is even listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its historical importance.
Where is Donalsonville?
Donalsonville is located in the southwestern part of Georgia. It is about 20 minutes north of Lake Seminole, a large lake popular for fishing and boating. The city is also about 62 miles (100 km) south of Albany and 36 miles (58 km) east of Dothan, Alabama.

Schools in Donalsonville
The Seminole County School District serves students from pre-school all the way to twelfth grade. The district has two main schools:

As Donalsonville grew, more churches were built. The first church, Friendship United Methodist Church, was built in 1850. At first, it was a meeting place for many different Christian groups. Later, other churches were formed, like the First Presbyterian Church in 1898 and the First Baptist Church in 1902. The Church of The Nazarene started holding meetings in a member's house in 1902 before building its own church in 1903. The Live Oak African Methodist Episcopal Church, the first Black church in Donalsonville, was created in 1895. Eventually, the city had thirteen churches.
