Donté Dominic Greene (born February 21, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange for one year. After that, he was chosen by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2008 NBA draft.

Early Life and Growing Up
Donté Greene was born in Munich, Germany, on a United States Air Force Base. His mother worked for the National Security Agency. When he was young, Donté lived in Japan and then returned to Germany. Later, he moved to Hanover, Pennsylvania. Sadly, when Donté was young, his mother passed away. He then moved to Woodlawn, Baltimore County, Maryland with his father and brother.
Basketball as a Young Player
Donté showed great basketball talent early on. In 2006, he was part of the USA Men's U18 National Team. They won a gold medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2007, Donté was named a McDonald's All-American, which is a big honor for high school basketball players. He was also Maryland's Gatorade Player of the Year. Experts ranked him as one of the top basketball recruits in the country for his age group.
He graduated from Towson Catholic High School in 2007. In his senior year, he averaged 18.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He helped his high school team win two championships in a row.
Donté played for Team USA again in the 2007 USA Basketball U19 World Championships. Even though he had a shoulder injury, he helped the team win a silver medal. They played against Serbia in the championship game.
College Basketball at Syracuse
Donté Greene played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange for one year. He started all 35 games he played in. He was the top scorer for Syracuse, averaging 17.7 points per game. He also grabbed 7.2 rebounds per game.
He was the first freshman at Syracuse since Carmelo Anthony to lead the team in scoring. Donté also set a new record for freshmen by making 90 three-pointers in one season. He also led Syracuse with 57 blocks. Because of his great performance, he was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team.
In one game, Donté scored 19 points and had 13 rebounds against Seton Hall. He also scored a season-high 27 points in a game against Robert Morris. After his freshman year, Donté decided to enter the NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
In the 2008 NBA draft, the Memphis Grizzlies picked Donté Greene as the 28th overall player. He was later traded to the Houston Rockets. Donté then joined the Sacramento Kings in August 2008.
Time with the Sacramento Kings
Donté played for the Sacramento Kings for several seasons. In January 2009, the Kings sent him to the Reno Bighorns in the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). This was to help him get more playing time and experience. In his first game with Reno, he scored 26 points. After a few strong games, the Kings called him back to their team.
Playing Around the World
After his time in the NBA, Donté Greene played for many professional basketball teams around the world. He played in places like Puerto Rico for the Atléticos de San Germán. He also played in China for the Dongguan Leopards.
Later, he played in Dubai for Al-Nasr and Al Sharjah. He also played in Saudi Arabia for Ohud Medina and Al-Ahli Jeddah. Donté also played in the Dominican Republic for the Leones de Santo Domingo, helping them win a championship in 2016. He also played in Lebanon, the Philippines, Colombia, and Tunisia.
The Basketball Tournament (TBT)
In the summer of 2017, Donté Greene played in The Basketball Tournament (TBT). This is a special basketball competition shown on ESPN. He played for a team called Boeheim's Army, which was made up of former players from Syracuse University. Donté averaged 14.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He helped his team reach the Semifinal Round.
