Donté Greene was born in Munich, Germany, on a United States Air Force Base. His mother worked for the National Security Agency. When he was young, Donté lived in Japan and then returned to Germany. Later, he moved to Hanover, Pennsylvania. Sadly, when Donté was young, his mother passed away. He then moved to Woodlawn, Baltimore County, Maryland with his father and brother.

Basketball as a Young Player

Donté showed great basketball talent early on. In 2006, he was part of the USA Men's U18 National Team. They won a gold medal at the 2006 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2007, Donté was named a McDonald's All-American, which is a big honor for high school basketball players. He was also Maryland's Gatorade Player of the Year. Experts ranked him as one of the top basketball recruits in the country for his age group.

He graduated from Towson Catholic High School in 2007. In his senior year, he averaged 18.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He helped his high school team win two championships in a row.
