Doris Neal was born and grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Her parents were Jacob and Agnes Neal. She spent most of her time playing third base. But she also helped out in the outfield when needed. Sometimes, she would even come in as a pinch-hitter to bat for another player.
Playing in the League
Doris joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League in 1948. She played for the Springfield Sallies team.

In 1948, Doris played in 97 games for the Sallies. She was part of a strong infield team. This team included Mildred Meacham at first base and Evelyn Wawryshyn at second base. June Schofield played shortstop.
