Douglas Larsen (born around 1976 – died October 1, 2023) was an American politician and businessman. He served as a member of the North Dakota Senate, representing the 34th district. He was elected in November 2020 and began his term on December 1, 2020.
Learning and Education
Doug Larsen was born around 1976. He attended Minot State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He studied communication arts and political science, which helped him in his future career.
Military Service and Business
Larsen served in the North Dakota Army National Guard for 29 years. This is a part of the U.S. Army that also serves the state. During his time in the military, he was deployed twice. One deployment was to Iraq between 2009 and 2010. Later, he served in Washington, D.C. from 2013 to 2014.
He reached the rank of major and was the commander of the 112th Aviation Battalion. At the time of his passing, he held the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Besides his military service, Doug Larsen was also a successful businessman. He owned a company called Apex Builders, which focused on building homes and developing properties. He also owned a Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Bismarck, North Dakota. In addition, he was a licensed real estate agent, helping people buy and sell properties.

Doug Larsen began his political career when he was elected to the North Dakota Senate in November 2020. He officially started his role on December 1, 2020.
As a state senator, he represented District 34. This district includes the city of Mandan. State senators work to create and vote on laws that affect the people of their state.
Passing Away
Doug Larsen passed away on October 1, 2023. He died in an accident near Moab, Utah at Canyonlands Regional Airport in Grand County, Utah.
