Dracula was an exciting TV show with spooky elements and dramatic stories. This series was a new version of the classic 1897 novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. It was made by London-based Carnival Films. The show was broadcast in the United States on NBC and in the United Kingdom on Sky Living. It ran from October 25, 2013, to January 24, 2014. Cole Haddon and Daniel Knauf created the series. Daniel Knauf also led the writing team.

The show was initially planned for ten episodes. It finished after just one season.

The Story of Dracula

After being brought back to life by a mysterious person, Dracula arrives in London. He pretends to be Alexander Grayson, a rich American businessman. Grayson claims he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. But his real goal is to get revenge on the Order of the Dragon. This powerful group caused him great trouble many centuries ago.

Abraham Van Helsing also seeks revenge. He was the one who helped bring Dracula back to life. They form a difficult partnership to achieve their goals. Their plans become complicated when Dracula becomes very interested in Mina Murray. She looks just like his wife from long ago, Ilona.

How the Show Was Made

The idea for Dracula started in February 2011. Co-creator Cole Haddon had written another popular monster story. This led to NBC buying the script for Dracula in September. Making the series was a challenging process. There were some difficulties during filming and production.

The show was filmed in Budapest, Hungary. Before the series aired, NBC released an animated online series. It was called Dracula Rising. This online series told the story of how Dracula became who he is, before the TV show began.
