Dudipatsar Lake (Urdu: دودی پت سر جھیل), also called Dudipat Lake, is a beautiful lake in Pakistan. It is surrounded by tall, snow-covered mountains. You can find this lake inside the Lulusar-Dudipatsar National Park. It is located at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley in the Mansehra District of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

About the Lake and Its Surroundings
The water in Dudipatsar Lake is a lovely greenish-blue color and is very cold. The lake sits high up, at an elevation of about 3,800 metres (12,500 ft) (which is over 12,000 feet!). The mountains around the lake are even taller, reaching about 4,800 metres (15,700 ft) (nearly 16,000 feet) high. You can often see patches of snow in the shady valleys, even in warmer months.
The natural environment here is part of the Western Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows area. This means it has special plants and grasses that grow in high, cold places.
Another important lake in the park is Lulusar Lake. This lake is where the Kunhar River begins. Nearby, you'll find Saiful Muluk National Park, which has Lake Saiful Muluk. Together, these parks protect a huge area of land, about 88,000 hectares (220,000 acres) (or 217,000 acres) in the 150 kilometres (93 mi) long Kaghan Valley.
Amazing Wildlife
The lake and its surrounding wet areas are very important for many animals and birds. These places provide a home for animals that live there all the time. They also offer a resting spot for migratory waterfowl, which are birds that travel long distances.
Some of the cool animals you might find in the park include:
- The snow leopard, a rare and beautiful big cat.
- The Asian black bear, a large bear with black fur.
- Marmots, which are furry rodents that live in burrows.
- Weasels, small, quick hunters.
- Lynxes and leopards, other types of wild cats.
- The Himalayan snowcock and snow partridge, which are birds that live in snowy, high-altitude areas.
How to Get There
Getting to Dudipatsar Lake used to be harder after the 2005 Kashmir earthquake in northern Pakistan. This earthquake caused a lot of damage. However, since 2006, the government of Pakistan has worked hard to bring tourists back to the Kaghan Valley. They have rebuilt roads and created new places for visitors to stay and enjoy.
