History of Dundee
Dundee got its name from Dundee, Scotland. This was the hometown of William Reid. He came to Oregon in 1874. Reid helped build the Oregonian Railway. He extended the railroad in the western Willamette Valley.
The first post office in the area was called Ekins. It opened in 1881. This post office closed in 1885. In 1887, a new post office opened. It was named "Dundee Junction." This name was chosen because people planned to build a bridge. The bridge would cross the Willamette River for the railroad. This would have created a railroad junction at Dundee. But the bridge was never built. So, the post office was renamed "Dundee" in 1897.
In 1913, the Dundee Woman's Club was started. This club later created a community center for everyone.
