The Story of Improvement District No. 9
Improvement District No. 9 has a long history. It was first created on April 1, 1945. Back then, it was called Improvement District No. 51. It was formed by combining many smaller districts.
Later, on January 1, 1969, its name changed to Improvement District No. 9. The town of Banff used to be part of this district. However, Banff became its own separate town on January 1, 1990.

An improvement district is a type of local government. It is set up in areas that are not part of a city or town. These districts help manage things like roads, services, and local rules. Improvement District No. 9 helps manage the parts of Banff National Park that are outside the town of Banff.
