Wang Hedi (born December 20, 1998), also known as Dylan Wang, is a famous Chinese actor and singer. He first became well-known for playing Daoming Si in the TV show Meteor Garden in 2018. Later, he gained even more fans for his role as Dongfang Qingcang in Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022). He also starred as Xu Qi'an in the adventure fantasy series Guardians of the Dafeng (2024).

Dylan Wang's Early Life and School

Wang Hedi was born in Leshan, a city in the Sichuan province of China. His parents used to work at a medicine factory. Later, his family opened a restaurant that sold fried skewers.

From a young age, Dylan loved basketball. He was a big fan of the basketball star LeBron James. When he was 14, he moved to Chengdu to go to a special high school. After that, he attended the Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation. While he was there, he was even featured on posters to help recruit students for the Flight Attendant program! In 2016, Dylan won a big competition called the Sichuan Campus Celebrity Gala. This event was held by Weibo with many colleges.

Dylan Wang's Acting Career

Starting Out: 2017–2021

In June 2017, when Dylan was 18, he joined a TV talent show called Super Idol. He won the competition! This caught the eye of a famous TV producer, Angie Chai. That's how Dylan officially started his career in entertainment.

Dylan's first acting job was the main role of Daoming Si in the 2018 TV series Meteor Garden. This show was a new version of a very popular Taiwanese drama from 2001. It was based on a Japanese comic book series called Boys Over Flowers. Dylan's role was announced in a magazine in November 2017, along with his co-stars Darren Chen, Caesar Wu, and Connor Leong. The show first aired in July 2018 in China and was also available worldwide on Netflix.

In 2018, Dylan also played in a celebrity basketball tournament called Super Penguin League. In October, he became a regular cast member on the reality show The Inn.

In June 2019, Dylan was cast in a historical drama called Youth in the Flames of War. He also appeared as a guest on the reality show Chinese Restaurant 3. In September 2019, he played in the Super Penguin Basketball Celebrity Game again. That same year, he got the main role in the second season of the fantasy drama Ever Night. This show started in January 2020. Dylan was also part of a cultural TV show called The Summer Palace in 2020. He was also a regular cast member on the game show The Irresistable.

In 2021, Dylan starred in the romance drama The Rational Life. He acted alongside Qin Lan. He also starred in the fantasy drama Miss the Dragon with Zhu Xudan. This show received some negative comments, and Dylan took responsibility for his performance. He said he was not very familiar with historical fantasy stories at the time.

Becoming Popular: 2022–Present

In January 2022, Dylan joined the "Hi 6 Group" on the TV show Hello, Saturday. He was also a regular cast member on the second season of the reality show Wonderland. In July 2022, he joined a reality show called Going All Out Action School. He also took part in a sports show called Basketball Buddies.

Later, Dylan starred in the xianxia (Chinese fantasy) drama Love Between Fairy and Devil. He played the character Dongfang Qingcang. The show started in August 2022 and quickly became very popular. It was one of the most-watched shows on the iQiyi platform. This series made Dylan very famous in China. His social media followers grew quickly while the show was airing. In November 2022, Dylan was chosen for a special program for young actors. This program helps them get more training and opportunities. In December 2022, Dylan started his own fashion brand called D.DESIRABLE.

From late 2022 to early 2023, Dylan's historical drama Unchained Love was shown. He also starred in the modern comedy Never Give Up. His historical drama Youth in the Flames of War aired three years after it was filmed. His romance drama Only for Love with actress Bai Lu aired in November 2023.

Dylan played in the 2024 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. In March 2024, it was announced that he started filming a crime series called Light to the Night. Filming finished in June 2024. In September 2024, it was announced he would be in a science fiction movie called Per Aspera Ad Astra. Dylan's detective comedy series Guardians of the Dafeng started airing in December 2024.

Endorsements and Brands

In November 2018, Dylan was a youth ambassador for a cycling event called Le Tour De France Skoda Shanghai Criterium.

In early 2019, Dylan and his Meteor Garden co-stars were spokespersons for a Thai snack brand called Tao Kae Noi. He also became an ambassador for the Philippine clothing brand Bench. He even held a fan meeting in Manila in 2019.

Since 2022, Dylan has worked with many more brands in China. These include car brands, makeup brands like Maybelline, and beauty brands like Sabon.

As of September 2024, Dylan is the spokesperson for several Chinese brands. These include AutoNavi (a map app), Peacebird (clothing), Xtep (sportswear), and Yili Group's Ambpomial and Chocliz (food products). He also represents Bolon eyewear. Internationally, he is the China spokesperson for Pizza Hut, Oreo, and Guerlain fragrances. He is also a brand ambassador for Estée Lauder skincare, Pepsi, Louis Vuitton, Fenty Beauty, and Hennessy.
