Wang Hedi (born December 20, 1998), also known as Dylan Wang, is a popular Chinese actor and singer. He became well-known for his first acting role as Daoming Si in the TV show Meteor Garden (2018). He also gained fame for playing Dongfang Qingcang in Love Between Fairy and Devil (2022) and Xu Qi'an in Guardians of the Dafeng (2024).

Early Life and School

Wang Hedi was born in Leshan, a city in the Sichuan province of China. His parents used to work in a local medicine factory. Later, his family opened a restaurant that sold fried skewers.

From a young age, Dylan loved basketball. He was a big fan of the famous basketball player LeBron James. When he was 14, he moved to Chengdu to go to a special high school. After that, he attended the Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation. While there, he was featured on posters to help recruit students for the Flight Attendant program. In 2016, he won a competition called the Sichuan Campus Celebrity Gala. This event was held by Weibo with many universities and colleges.

Acting and Music Career

Starting Out (2017–2021)

In June 2017, when he was 18, Dylan Wang joined a TV talent show called Super Idol. It was hosted by He Jiong. Dylan won the competition, which helped him get noticed by Angie Chai, a TV producer from Taiwan. This was his official start in the entertainment world.

Dylan's first acting job was the main role of Daoming Si in the 2018 TV series Meteor Garden. This show was a new version of a popular Taiwanese drama from 2001. It was based on a Japanese comic book series called Boys Over Flowers. Dylan's role was announced in November 2017. The show first aired in July 2018 in China and later on Netflix around the world.

In 2018, Dylan also played in a celebrity basketball game called Super Penguin League. In October of that year, he joined the reality show The Inn as a regular cast member.

In June 2019, Dylan was chosen for a historical drama called Youth in the Flames of War. He also appeared as a guest on the reality show Chinese Restaurant 3. In September 2019, he played in the Super Penguin Basketball Celebrity Game again. That same year, he got the main role in the second season of the fantasy drama Ever Night, which aired in January 2020.

Dylan was also part of a cultural TV show called The Summer Palace in 2020. He was also a regular cast member on the game show The Irresistible.

In 2021, Dylan starred in the romance drama The Rational Life. He also appeared in the fantasy drama Miss the Dragon. This show received some negative comments. Dylan took responsibility for his performance, explaining he was new to historical fantasy roles. He learned a lot from this experience.

Growing Popularity (2022–Present)

In January 2022, Dylan joined the "Hi 6 Group" for the TV variety show Hello, Saturday. He was also a regular on the second season of the reality show Wonderland. In July 2022, he joined a show called Going All Out Action School. In the same month, he took part in the sports show Basketball Buddies.

Dylan then starred in the fantasy drama Love Between Fairy and Devil as Dongfang Qingcang. The show premiered in August 2022. It quickly became very popular, reaching high ratings on the iQiyi platform. This series made Dylan famous in China and his social media followers grew very fast.

In November 2022, Dylan was chosen for the China Movie Channel's Young Actors Selection Program. This program helps young actors get more training and opportunities. In December 2022, Dylan started his own fashion brand called D.DESIRABLE.

From late 2022 to early 2023, Dylan's historical drama Unchained Love aired. He also starred in the modern comedy Never Give Up in early 2023. His drama Youth in the Flames of War aired three years after it was filmed. His romance drama Only for Love aired in November 2023.

Dylan participated in the 2024 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. In March 2024, he started filming the crime series Light to the Night, which finished filming in June 2024. His detective comedy series Guardians of the Dafeng began airing in December 2024. This show became very popular on Tencent Video.

In January 2025, Dylan's film I Dreamed a Dream premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival. His science fiction film, Per Aspera Ad Astra, is set to be released in 2025. In May 2025, it was announced that Dylan would be the main character in a new costume drama called Live Long and Prosper.

Brand Endorsements

Dylan Wang has worked with many brands. In November 2018, he was a youth ambassador for the Le Tour De France Skoda Shanghai Criterium.

In early 2019, Dylan and his Meteor Garden co-stars were spokespersons for the Thai snack brand Tao Kae Noi. He also became an ambassador for the Philippine clothing brand Bench. He held a fan meeting in Manila in 2019.

Between 2022 and 2024, Dylan endorsed many brands in China. These included SAIC Volkswagen New Tharu, G-Shock, Anker, Colgate, Sabon, Pizza Hut, Oreo, and Estée Lauder skincare. He also became the global ambassador for Maybelline.

As of July 2025, Dylan Wang is the spokesperson for Chinese brands like AutoNavi, Peacebird, Xtep, and Yili Group's Ambpomial and Chocliz. He also works with Bolon eyewear and Harbin Beer. Internationally, he is the China brand ambassador for Pepsi, Gatorade, Fenty Beauty, and Hennessy. Dylan is also a house ambassador for Louis Vuitton and a global ambassador for Guerlain and Yadea. He is also a worldwide partner with Chagee.
