Earth, Wind & Fire, often called EWF, is a very famous American band. They play many types of music. These include R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, and pop. Many people think they are one of the most creative and successful bands ever.
The band was started in Chicago, Illinois by Maurice White in 1969. Other important members include Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson. Earth, Wind & Fire has won many awards. They have won six Grammys and four American Music Awards. They are also in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have sold over 90 million records. This makes them one of the best-selling bands of all time!
The band has received many special honors. These include the NAACP Image Award Hall of Fame and a star on Hollywood's Rockwalk. They also got awards for their amazing music and long career. Earth, Wind & Fire is known for its cool horn section. They also use a special instrument called a kalimba. Their live shows are full of energy and amazing performances. Philip Bailey's high voice (called falsetto) and Maurice White's deep voice (called baritone) create a unique sound. The band was also honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
