East Norriton Township is a community located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's a special type of local government called a township. In 2010, about 13,590 people lived here. Students in East Norriton go to schools in the Norristown Area School District.

History of East Norriton Township
East Norriton Township was created on March 9, 1909. Before that, it was part of a larger area called Norriton Township. This larger township was split into two parts: East Norriton and West Norriton Township.
Two very old and important buildings in East Norriton are the Barley Sheaf Inn and the Old Norriton Presbyterian Church. These places are so special that they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are protected because of their historical importance.
Geography and Location
East Norriton Township covers about 6.1 square miles (15.7 square kilometers) of land. In 2009, a magazine called Business Week recognized East Norriton as one of the top five "Best Affordable Suburbs" in the country. This means it's a great place to live that doesn't cost too much.
East Norriton used to be mostly farmland. Now, it has homes, businesses, and industrial areas. It is located about 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Philadelphia. It is also close to other important towns like King of Prussia and Norristown.
If you like shopping, there are big malls nearby. The Plymouth Meeting Mall is only about 4 miles (6.4 km) away. The famous King of Prussia Mall is also close by. The township is located along US 202, which is a major road. East Norriton also has its own little league program for young baseball and softball players.

There were also significant numbers of Black or African American people (9%) and Asian people (6.3%). About 3.2% of the population had Hispanic or Latino family backgrounds.
In 2000, there were over 5,000 households in the township. Many of these were families living together. About one-quarter of households had children under 18 living with them. The average age of people in the township was 42 years old.
The median income for a household in East Norriton in 2000 was about $60,536. For families, the median income was around $70,162. This means that half of the households earned more than this amount, and half earned less.
Transportation in East Norriton

East Norriton Township has many public roads. In 2018, there were about 66.54 miles (107.09 km) of roads. Some of these roads are maintained by the state of Pennsylvania, and others are maintained by the township itself.
U.S. Route 202 is the main highway that goes through the township. It generally runs from northeast to southwest. Part of this road, called Dekalb Pike, is a key route in East Norriton.
Public transportation is also available through SEPTA. SEPTA provides bus services that connect East Norriton to other nearby areas. For example, you can take a SEPTA bus from East Norriton to the Norristown Transportation Center. You can also reach places like the Plymouth Meeting Mall, Lansdale, and Blue Bell using these bus routes.
Economy
East Norriton is home to the Einstein Medical Center. This is a large hospital that serves Montgomery County. It is built on 87 acres of land that used to be a golf center.
In the past, a grocery store company called Genuardi's had its main office in East Norriton Township.
Education
The schools in East Norriton Township are part of the Norristown Area School District.
For Catholic school students, there is Holy Rosary Regional Catholic School. This school is located in Plymouth Meeting and Plymouth Township. It was created in 2012 when three other Catholic schools merged together. These schools included Our Lady of Victory and St. Titus, both of which were in East Norriton.
