East Coast of the United States facts for kids
The East Coast of the United States is a special part of the United States. It's also known as the "Eastern Seaboard" or "Atlantic Seaboard." This area includes the states that are farthest to the east and touch the Atlantic Ocean. This stretch of land goes all the way up to Canada.
Sometimes, when people say "East Coast," they mean just the Northeastern United States. Other times, they are talking about the original thirteen states that formed the U.S., plus Maine, Washington, D.C., and Florida. The southern part of the East Coast is also a big part of the Southern United States or Southeastern United States.
