Everard Lorne Carpenter (born June 15, 1890, died April 30, 1963), known as Eddie, was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He was a skilled defenseman who played in the early days of professional hockey. Eddie played for teams like the Toronto Blueshirts and Seattle Metropolitans. He even won the famous Stanley Cup! After his playing days, he continued to be involved in hockey as a coach and manager.

Early Life and Hockey Start
Eddie Carpenter was born in Hartford, Michigan, USA. But he grew up in the Lachute-Brownsburg, Quebec area of Canada. His parents lived there until they moved to Red Deer, Alberta in 1913.
In 1909, Eddie moved to Port Arthur, Ontario. He started working for the Canadian Northern Railway. Around this time, he also began playing semi-professional hockey. He played the defensive position called "cover point."
Playing for Port Arthur
In 1910, Eddie played for the Thunder Bay Hockey Club. Then, for the 1910-11 and 1911-12 seasons, he played for the Port Arthur Hockey Club. His team, which included another great player named Jack Walker, won the Western Canadian championship.
They then got to play for the Stanley Cup on March 16, 1911. They faced the Ottawa Senators, a team from the NHA. Unfortunately, Port Arthur was defeated by the Senators.
Other Teams and a Stanley Cup Win
After his time in Port Arthur, Eddie played for other teams. He joined the Moncton Victorias for the 1912-13 season. Then, in 1913-14, he played for the New Glasgow Black Foxes.
A big moment in his career came in 1917. Eddie won the Stanley Cup with the Seattle Metropolitans. This was a huge achievement for any hockey player!
Playing in the NHL
Eddie Carpenter also played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for two different NHL teams. In the 1919–20 season, he played for the Quebec Bulldogs. The next season, 1920–21, he played for the Hamilton Tigers. In total, he played 44 games in the NHL. He scored 10 goals and had 4 assists during his NHL career.
Life After Hockey
After he stopped playing professional hockey in 1921, Eddie stayed involved in the sport. He became a trainer, coach, and manager for the Port Arthur Hockey Club. Under his guidance, the team won two Allan Cups. These wins happened in the 1924-25 and 1925-26 seasons.
Eddie also served his community outside of hockey. In 1941, he was a councilor for the city of Port Arthur. Around 1945, he moved to Winnipeg. He retired around 1954 from his job as a locomotive engineer. He had worked for the Canadian National Railways.
