Edita Vilkevičiūtė (born January 1, 1989) is a famous Lithuanian model. She has appeared on the covers of Vogue magazine 25 times! In 2015, she was one of the highest-paid models in the world. This was partly due to her work in ads for perfumes by Roberto Cavalli and Viktor & Rolf.

Early Life and Childhood

Edita Vilkevičiūtė was born on New Year's Day in 1989. She grew up with a younger sister. Her father was a teacher, and her mother stayed at home. Edita described her childhood as "simple and perfect." She remembered being surrounded by "a lot of nature and forests." As a child, she learned to play musical instruments. She also enjoyed playing basketball and riding horses.

How Her Modeling Career Started

Edita was on holiday in Palanga, Lithuania, when she was asked to join a modeling contest. This contest was organized by a modeling agency. With her father's permission, she first joined a small agency in Spain. Her start in modeling was slow at first.

Joining Major Agencies

When she was 17, a big agency called Women Management in Milan noticed her. She signed with them. Later, in 2006, she also signed with VIVA in Paris. This was a big step in her career.

First Steps on the Runway

Edita's first time walking on a fashion runway was for Just Cavalli. This was for their spring/summer 2006 shows in Milan. The next month, she appeared in her first photo story for Vogue Paris. This was followed by another in February 2007.

Walking for Top Designers

After her first shows, Edita walked for many famous designers. These included Paul Smith, Preen, and Marios Schwab in London. She took a break from fashion weeks in Milan and New York. But she returned for the spring/summer 2008 Paris fashion week. There, she walked for top brands like Balenciaga, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.

Big Campaigns and Magazine Covers

In 2008, Edita was chosen for Dolce and Gabbana's Spring/Summer ad campaign. She also appeared in campaigns for Versace Fragrance and Marc O'Polo. She became the face of Versace perfumes. Karl Lagerfeld, a famous designer, even chose her to play Coco Chanel in his film, Chanel, The Silent Film.

Later in 2008, she walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2008. She was part of the "PINK" section. She also became the face of brands like Karl Lagerfeld, GAP in Japan, and Dior Beauty. Edita has been on the covers of many fashion magazines. These include Marie Claire, Vogue (in Germany and Russia), and Numéro.

Continued Success in Fashion

During the Spring/Summer 2009 season, Edita walked in over 35 fashion shows. She worked with designers like Chloe, Chanel, and Dolce & Gabbana. She also participated in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2009. In 2010, she appeared on more magazine covers, including Numéro and Vogue Spain. She walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010 again. This time, she wore "Angel" wings for the first time.

In 2011, Edita took her own self-portrait for a Rag & Bone ad campaign. She also appeared on the cover of Numéro China. She chose to walk for Versace's collaboration with H&M instead of becoming a full-time Victoria's Secret Angel.
