Electus was a company that made and shared TV shows and other media. It was started by Ben Silverman in 2009. A company called IAC helped pay for Electus.

Electus worked with big TV networks like NBC and ABC. They also partnered with online companies like Facebook and Yahoo!. In 2018, another company named Propagate Content bought Electus.

Electus: Making TV Shows and More

Electus was founded in 2009 by Ben Silverman. He used to be a top boss at NBC Entertainment. Barry Diller's company, IAC, provided the money to start Electus.

Early Partnerships and Comedy

When Electus began, IAC connected them with CollegeHumor. This was a popular comedy website that made shows for both the internet and TV.

In January 2010, Electus teamed up with actors Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. They started a company called DumbDumb. This company created fun ads and online shows for other brands. For example, they made an online talk show for Denny's called "Always Open."

Working with Top Producers

In August 2010, Electus announced a deal with 5x5 Media. This group was led by Craig Armstrong, Rick Ringbakk, and Tod Mesirow. These producers had worked on many famous reality TV shows. Their shows included Survivor, Amazing Race, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Expanding Globally

In January 2011, Electus bought Engine Entertainment. This helped them create a new part of their company called Electus/Engine Distribution. This new team helped share Electus's own shows and other companies' projects around the world. They even worked with a leading production company in Israel.

Also in January 2011, Electus partnered with Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley. They used to be important people at MTV. Together, they formed a new company called DiGa. DiGa focused on making reality and scripted shows for cable and network TV.

Online Content and Studios

In June 2012, Electus worked with YouTube. They launched a food channel called HUNGRY. This channel featured famous chefs like Duff Goldman and Laura Vitale.

In 2013, Electus took over the teams behind CollegeHumor and Dorkly. They created a new studio called Big Breakfast. This studio made popular shows like Adam Ruins Everything for TruTV. They also created Bad Internet for YouTube Red.

The Sale of Electus

In 2018, the company IAC sold Electus to Propagate Content. This meant Electus became part of Propagate Content.
