Elise Demetria Neal, born on March 14, 1966, is an American actress. She became well-known in 1997. That year, she appeared in three movies: Rosewood, Money Talks, and Scream 2.
From 1998 to 2002, Elise played Yvonne Hughley. This was in the TV show The Hughleys on ABC and UPN. She also acted in movies like Mission to Mars (2000), Hustle & Flow (2005), and Logan (2017). On TV, she played Tia Jewel in All of Us. This was for the first two seasons, from 2003 to 2005. She has been nominated three times for a NAACP Image Award.

Early Life and Training
Elise Neal was born on March 14, 1966. Her hometown is Memphis, Tennessee. Her mother was a nurse, and her father worked in construction. She went to Lakeview Elementary School.
As a child, Elise was a talented ballet dancer. She was also a cheerleader. She graduated from Overton High School. This school is known for creative and performing arts.
From 1984 to 1988, she attended the University of the Arts. This university is located in Philadelphia. Elise left college after two years. She then moved to New York City. There, she got roles in musical theater shows. She traveled the world with different touring groups. Her experience in musical theater helped her move into commercials. This eventually led her to Los Angeles. Elise was also a member of the Tennessee Ballet Company.
Acting Career
Elise Neal was a skilled dancer. She appeared in many hip hop and R&B music videos. This was in the early 1990s. One of her first jobs was as a background dancer. This was for Chubb Rock's music video "Just the Two of Us."
She also appeared in music videos for other artists. These include Black Sheep's "Strobelite Honey" (1992). She was in Father MC's "Lisa Baby" (1991). She also appeared in Aretha Franklin's "A Rose Is Still a Rose" (1998). Other videos include Trick Daddy's "I'm a Thug" (2001). She was also in Vanessa Williams' video "Work to Do." Elise was featured in King Magazine in November 2007. She was also a dancer in Dannii Minogue's 1993 song "This Is It."
Elise Neal made her movie debut in Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992). She then got the role of Janice Sinclair. This was on the soap opera Loving. She later played fighter pilot J.J. Fredericks on the show seaQuest 2032.
Neal was cast as Hallie in Scream 2. Her character was originally planned to be one of the villains. However, the script was leaked, so her role was changed. She played a school teacher named Scrappie in Rosewood.
Her big breakthrough role was Yvonne Hughley. She played the wife of D.L. Hughley in The Hughleys. This TV sitcom aired from 1998 to 2002. She received two NAACP Image Award nominations. These were for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. After The Hughleys, Neal played kindergarten teacher Tia Jewel in All of Us. She left this show in 2005.
She has made guest appearances on many TV shows. These include Law & Order, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Method & Red. Her other movie roles include Paid in Full, Money Talks, and Mission to Mars. In the movie Restaurant, she played Jeanine. This character was a waitress who wanted to be a singer. Neal also acted in a 2001 remake of Brian's Song. She played the wife of Gale Sayers.
Neal received her third NAACP Image Award nomination in 2006. This was for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. The nomination was for her role as Yevette in Hustle & Flow. Yevette was the wife of Anthony Anderson's character. Her role in the 2007 movie 4 Life also led to her first song. The song was called "I'm Down Baby." She also appeared in the show K-Ville as Ayana Boulet.
Elise Neal is also a producer. She is creating and developing several projects. These include a reality show about her R&B music group, "Assorted Flavors." She is also working on a fitness and lifestyle brand. She has development deals for feature films. She appeared on the reality show Hollywood Divas.
She played Alana in Love Ranch (2010). Neal was a guest star on an episode of The Soul Man. She played singer Gladys Knight in the movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B (2014). A reviewer named Jon Caramanica said Neal was the best actor in that movie. Neal played Kathryn Munson in the 2017 superhero movie Logan. She also appeared on the TV show Into the Dark.
