Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award facts for kids
The Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award is a special prize given every year to talented artists who illustrate children's picture books in Canada. It was created in 1985 to honor Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver, who was a very important book illustrator in Canada. She wanted to support other artists, so she left money in her will to start this award. The winner gets $1,000 and a certificate for their amazing work.

About the Cleaver Award
This award is often called the Cleaver Award for short. It is managed by a group of three people from IBBY Canada. IBBY Canada is the Canadian part of the International Board on Books for Young People. To win, an artist must be Canadian and have illustrated a picture book. The book must have been published in Canada in English or French during the year before the award is given.
