Eminence is a city in Henry County, Kentucky, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,705 people lived there. It is the largest city in Henry County.
Eminence is home to the Eminence Historic Commercial District. A company called Eminence Speaker, which makes speakers, is also located here. The city once had a school called Eminence College. Eminence's school sports teams are known as the Warriors.

History of Eminence
The city of Eminence was officially started in 1851. Its name comes from the idea that it was the highest point on the railroad line. This railroad connected the cities of Louisville and Lexington.
In 1979, the Eminence Historic Commercial District was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is a special area with important historical buildings.
Geography and Location
Eminence is located in the southern part of Henry County. It shares a border with Shelby County to the south.
Roads and Travel
Kentucky Route 55 is the main road that goes through Eminence. It is called Main Street. This road goes north about 4 miles (6 km) to New Castle, which is the county seat of Henry County. It also goes south about 12 miles (19 km) to Shelbyville.
U.S. Route 421 is another important road. It passes about 2 miles (3 km) east of Eminence. This route goes north to New Castle and southeast about 25 miles (40 km) to Frankfort, the capital city of Kentucky.
Waterways and Elevation
Eminence is located on high ground. The city's elevation can reach up to 960 feet (293 meters). Several small rivers and creeks start in or near Eminence.
The Little Kentucky River begins just west of Eminence. Town Creek and Drennon Creek also start in Eminence and flow north. These creeks and the Little Kentucky River all eventually flow into the Kentucky River. In the southern part of Eminence, Fox Run begins. It flows south into the Salt River. Both the Kentucky River and the Salt River are branches of the Ohio River.

Education in Eminence
The Eminence Independent School District manages education in the city. The school mascot is the Warriors. The Eminence Warriors have played against the Eels from Eminence Junior-Senior High School in Eminence, Indiana.
Eminence also has a lending library called the Henry County Public Library.
Arts and Culture in Eminence
Eminence is home to the Highland Renaissance Festival. This festival takes place from May through July. The city also hosts a Celtic Fest every September.
Notable People from Eminence
- Anne Braden (1924–2006), a civil rights activist who worked for equal rights.
- Jim Green, a track star and the first African American athlete to graduate from the University of Kentucky.
- Hollis Summers (1916–1987), a writer who created poems, novels, and short stories.
