Emmi Peltonen (born 29 November 1999) is a Finnish figure skater who recently retired. She was a champion at the 2017 FBMA Trophy. Emmi also won a silver medal at the 2020 Nordic Championships. She is a three-time Finnish national champion. Emmi competed for Finland at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She finished in twentieth place there.

Emmi Peltonen's Early Life
Emmi Peltonen was born on November 29, 1999. Her birthplace was Nashville, Tennessee in the United States. She has two older twin brothers, Aleksi and Jesper. Emmi also has a younger sister named Nelli.
Her parents are from Finland. Her mother, Hanna, was a figure skater. Her father, Ville Peltonen, was a professional ice hockey player. He played for the NHL's Nashville Predators team. The family moved back to Finland a few years after Emmi was born. Emmi's grandfather, Esa Peltonen, also played professional ice hockey.
Emmi Peltonen's Skating Journey
Starting to Skate
Emmi Peltonen received her first ice skates when she was two years old. She began learning to skate in 2002. As a child, she competed in the United States. She started competing in international events in the 2011–2012 season. Emmi won a gold medal at the 2013 Nordic Championships. This was in the novice category.
Junior International Competitions
Emmi started competing at the junior international level in the 2013–2014 season. She won a junior silver medal at the Finnish Championships. She also won silver at the Nordic Championships. In both events, she finished second to Jenni Saarinen.
In the 2014–2015 season, Virpi Horttana coached Emmi. Emmi made her ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) debut in August 2014. She placed ninth at a competition in France. Emmi competed at the senior level at the Finnish Championships. She finished fourth overall in that event.
Senior International Debut
In the 2015–2016 season, Emmi had coaches in Finland and California. She placed fifteenth at her only JGP event in Austria. Emmi made her senior international debut in October 2015. She finished tenth at the 2015 CS Finlandia Trophy. This was a Challenger Series (CS) event. She did not compete at the Finnish Championships. However, she won a junior bronze medal at the Nordic Championships.
2016–2017 Season Highlights
Emmi trained in California during the summer. In August, she placed fifth at a JGP event in France. She then competed in several senior international events. She finished twelfth at the 2016 CS Finlandia Trophy. She also placed fourteenth at the Volvo Open Cup. Emmi was sixth at the 2016 CS Warsaw Cup.
In December 2016, Emmi won her first senior gold medal. This was at the Finnish Championships. She scored eight points more than the silver medalist. Emmi was chosen to represent Finland at the 2017 European Championships. She finished eleventh overall in the Czech Republic. Emmi also competed at the 2017 World Championships in Finland. She did not advance to the free skate.
2017–2018 Season: Olympics
In September 2017, Finland earned a spot for the 2018 Winter Olympics. This was thanks to Viveca Lindfors's performance. In December, Emmi won her second national title. She finished ahead of Lindfors by 4.22 points.
In January, Emmi placed ninth overall at the 2018 European Championships. She was Finland's top female skater at this event. On January 24, 2018, Emmi was chosen for the Olympics. She finished twentieth in the ladies' event at the Olympics.
2018–2019 Season
Emmi started this season at the 2018 CS Finlandia Trophy. She finished in fifth place. She then made her Grand Prix series debut. This was at the 2018 Grand Prix of Helsinki, where she placed ninth.
Emmi won the silver medal at the Finnish Championships. She finished behind Lindfors. She placed eighth at the 2019 European Championships. Lindfors won a bronze medal at that event. Emmi was later given Finland's spot at the 2019 World Championships. This happened after Lindfors withdrew due to an injury. Emmi placed twenty-eighth at the World Championships.
2019–2020 Season
Emmi competed at one Grand Prix event, the 2019 Rostelecom Cup. She placed twelfth there. She won the Finnish national title again. Emmi then competed at the European Championships. She was fifth in the short program with a new personal best score. She finished fifth overall at the event.
After winning a silver medal at the Nordic Championships, Emmi was set to compete at the World Championships. However, these championships were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Later Seasons
Emmi was scheduled for the 2020 Internationaux de France Grand Prix event. This event was also canceled because of the pandemic. In the 2021–2022 season, Emmi withdrew from some early competitions. She finished fourth at the 2021 CS Denis Ten Memorial Challenge. She then placed eighth at the 2021 CS Warsaw Cup. Emmi won the Open d'Andorra.
She won a bronze medal at the Finnish championships. Emmi was chosen for the 2022 European Championships. However, she later withdrew due to an ankle injury.
In the 2022–2023 season, Emmi won a bronze medal at the Volvo Open Cup. She had to withdraw from other events after getting COVID-19. Her only other event was the 2022 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb. She placed sixteenth there.
For the 2023–2024 season, Emmi finished seventh at the 2023 CS Autumn Classic International. She also placed seventh at the 2023 CS Finlandia Trophy. Emmi won a gold medal at the 2023 Trophée Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur. She then finished eighth at the 2023 CS Warsaw Cup. After placing fourth at the 2023–24 Finnish Championships, Emmi competed at the 2024 European Championships. She finished twelfth there.
Emmi started her 2024–2025 season in late November. She competed at the 2024 NRW Trophy. She finished in fifth place at this event. Emmi Peltonen officially retired from competitive skating on April 14, 2025.
