Ephraim is a city located in Sanpete County, Utah, in the United States. It is the largest city in Sanpete County. In 2020, about 5,611 people lived there.
Ephraim is home to Snow College, a well-known school. The city is also found along U.S. Route 89, which is a major road.

History of Ephraim
The first people settled in Ephraim in 1854. A post office opened in the city two years later, in 1856. The city was named after a person called Ephraim from the Old Testament.
Geography of Ephraim
Ephraim is located in the Sanpete Valley. It sits on the east side of the San Pitch River.
The city covers an area of about 3.6 square miles (9.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water.

In 2000, there were 4,505 people living in Ephraim. The city had about 1,128 households. Many families lived there, with 38.7% of households having children under 18.
The average age of people in Ephraim was 20 years old. A large part of the population, 42.4%, was between 18 and 24 years old. This is because of the college in the city.
Education in Ephraim
Ephraim is part of the South Sanpete School District. The city has its own schools for younger students. These include Ephraim Elementary School and Ephraim Middle School.
Older students who attend high school go to Manti High School. This school is located in the nearby city of Manti.
Snow College
Ephraim is also home to Snow College. This college started in 1888. It was first called the LDS Sanpete Stake Academy.
Later, it was renamed Snow Academy. This was to honor Erastus Snow and Lorenzo Snow. In 1923, it officially became Snow College.
The state of Utah took over the college in 1932. Today, about 5,900 students attend Snow College. Some students also go to its campus in Richfield.
Utah State University Branch Campus
Utah State University also has a branch campus in Ephraim. Here, students can earn Bachelor's and Graduate Degrees.
