History of Esbon
Esbon was first planned out in 1873. It officially became a city in 1904.
The first post office in Esbon opened in January 1874. This helped people send and receive letters and packages.
Esbon was also an important stop for shipping goods on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. This railway helped the town grow.

The town is located about 2.5 miles north of U.S. Route 36. It is also 13 miles west of Mankato, which is the main town in Jewell County.

Esbon used to have its own elementary and high school until 1983. The mascot for Esbon High School was the Esbon Tigers.
The Esbon Tigers boys' track and field team won the state championship in 1947. This was a big achievement for the school!
In 1983, the schools in Esbon and Burr Oak joined together to form White Rock schools. Esbon became home to White Rock Middle School. The elementary and high schools for White Rock were in Burr Oak. The White Rock High School mascot was the Eagles.
