Eugenio González Derbez (born September 2, 1961) is a famous Mexican actor, comedian, director, and producer. He has been in many movies and TV shows, like The Book of Life, The Angry Birds Movie 2, and CODA. Eugenio Derbez is also known for doing the Spanish voices for characters in popular American films, such as Mulan and the Shrek movies.

Early Life and First Steps
Eugenio Derbez grew up in Mexico City, Mexico. He loved acting from a very young age. When he was just 12 years old, he started getting small roles as an extra in TV soap operas. This was the beginning of his long career in entertainment. In 1997, he directed his first Mexican TV show called No Tengo Madre.

Starting Out in the 1980s
In the early 1980s, Eugenio Derbez was a regular on a Mexican TV show called Cachún cachún ra ra!. He also appeared on En Familia con Chabelo, which was a children's TV show. In 1988, he got a steady role on a comedy show called Anabel, where he played many different characters.
Success in the 1990s
During the 1990s, Derbez continued to work in movies and TV. In 1992, he started hosting his own variety show, Al Derecho y al Derbez. He also directed the TV show No Tengo Madre in 1997. In 1999, he launched his own comedy sketch show, Derbez en Cuando. This show became very popular in Mexico.
He also appeared in children's TV shows like Carita de ángel and Cómplices al Rescate. In 2003, Derbez created and produced XHDRBZ, a funny TV series that mixed sketch comedy with fake news reports. He also produced other shows like Hospital el Paisa and the popular sitcom Vecinos (which means "Neighbors"). One of his most famous roles was as the main character in La familia P. Luche. This was a funny show about a silly family living in a very strange world.
Eugenio Derbez is one of the few Mexican actors who has become famous all over the world. He has won international awards and starred in big American movies.

In 2002, Eugenio Derbez started producing TV shows. He co-created a sitcom called XHDRBZ. Also in 2002, he helped create, direct, and star in the family sitcom La familia P. Luche. This show made him even more well-known among Mexican and Latin American audiences.
Hollywood and Directing in the 2010s
In 2011, Derbez appeared in the movie Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler. He also starred in Girl in Progress and the CBS TV show Rob!.
He was in the movie Miracles from Heaven with Jennifer Garner. He also lent his voice to the character Rico in the animated movie Underdogs.
In 2013, Eugenio Derbez starred in and directed Instructions Not Included. This movie became the most successful Spanish-language film in the U.S. and worldwide. It broke many box office records, earning over $100 million. It was a huge hit in the U.S. and Mexico.
In 2016, Derbez finished filming How to Be a Latin Lover. He starred in this movie with Salma Hayek and Kristen Bell. The film was released in 2017.
Recent Work in the 2020s
Eugenio Derbez is a partner at 3pas Studios with producer Ben Odell. In 2021, his studio made a deal with Univision. He and Ben Odell were executive producers for the 2021 TV series Acapulco, which also stars Derbez.
In 2021, he appeared in the Academy Award-winning Apple TV+ movie CODA. For this film, he and the rest of the cast won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In 2022, he played the main character, Antonio Flores, in the movie The Valet. He also participated in the movie based on the best-selling book Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of The Universe. In 2023, he starred in and produced the movie Radical.
Personal Life
Eugenio Derbez was born in Mexico City. His mother was the actress Silvia Derbez. He lives in Los Angeles with his family. Eugenio is married to Alessandra Rosaldo, who is an actress, model, and singer. He has four children: Aislinn Derbez, Vadhir Derbez, José Eduardo Derbez, and Aitana Derbez. He also has a bulldog named Fiona.
