Evan Olav Ross-Næss (born August 26, 1988) is an American actor and musician. He is known for his roles in movies like ATL and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. He also appeared in TV shows such as 90210 and Star.

Evan Ross is the son of famous singer Diana Ross and businessman Arne Næss Jr.. He is married to singer-songwriter Ashlee Simpson and they have two children together.

Evan Ross's Early Life

Evan Ross was born Evan Olav Næss in Greenwich, Connecticut. His father, Arne Næss Jr., was a businessman and mountaineer. His mother, Diana Ross, is a well-known entertainer. Evan's father had German and Norwegian family roots, and his mother is African-American. His great-uncle was a famous Norwegian philosopher named Arne Næss.

Evan has an older brother named Ross Næss. His parents divorced in 2000. Evan also has several half-siblings from his parents' other marriages. Sadly, his father passed away in a mountain climbing accident in 2004 when Evan was 15 years old.

Evan Ross's Career in Acting

Evan Ross started acting while he was still a student at Greenwich High School. His first big movie role was in ATL, which came out in 2006. In this film, he acted alongside popular rappers T.I. and Big Boi.

He also received great reviews for his role in the TV movie Life Support. In this movie, he starred with Queen Latifah and his real-life half-sister Tracee Ellis Ross. Evan later acted in the movie Pride, where he played a kind teenager with a speech impediment.

Evan has been in many other films. These include the thriller Linewatch (2008) and the drama Gardens of the Night (2008). He also starred as Julie, the love interest of Hilary Duff's character, in the 2009 movie According to Greta.

In 2010, Evan joined the cast of The CW's teen drama 90210. He played Charlie Selby, who was Liam Court's half-brother and a love interest for Annie Wilson. That same year, he appeared in Case 219 and the movie Mooz-lum, which also starred Danny Glover and Nia Long.

He then acted in the comedy-drama The Family Tree (2011). He also co-starred with Brittany Snow in the thriller 96 Minutes. Evan won the Breakout Acting Award at SXSW for his performance in 96 Minutes.

In 2012, Evan Ross had a supporting role in the comedy-drama Jeff, Who Lives at Home. The next year, he played music producer Dallas Austin in the TV movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. This movie was about the 1990s girl group TLC.

Evan also appeared in the drama film All the Wilderness (2014). He was in the comedy-drama Just Before I Go (2014) and the drama film Supremacy (2014).

In 2014, Evan Ross played Messalla in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. He played the same role again in Mockingjay – Part 2 in 2015. In 2015, he joined the cast of ABC's crime drama Wicked City. He played a crime scene photographer named Diver Hawkes.

From 2017 to 2019, Evan had a big role as Angel Rivera in the TV series Star on Fox. In 2018, Evan and his wife, Ashlee Simpson Ross, starred in their own reality show called Ashlee+Evan.

Evan Ross's Music Career

Evan Ross started recording his first music album in 2007. He released his first song, "Yes Me," on February 25, 2011. The song was produced by Tony DeNiro.

On December 5, 2014, Evan shared a preview of another song called "How To Live Alone" on his Instagram account. He released this song as a single on May 14, 2015, and it featured rapper T.I..

In 2016, Evan was featured on a song called "They" by DJWS & Hero. He also recorded two duets, "Don't Look At Me" and "All I Want," for the TV series Star. In 2017, he was featured on "Restricted" by Kronic.

In 2018, Evan Ross formed a music duo with his wife, Ashlee Simpson. Their duo is called Ashlee + Evan. They released a collection of songs together, an EP titled Ashlee + Evan, on October 12, 2018.

Evan has also appeared in music videos. He was in The Notorious B.I.G.'s music video for "Nasty Girl" (2005). He also appeared in Lionel Richie's music video for "Just Go" (2009). In 2018, he was in Macy Gray's music video for "Sugar Daddy".

Evan Ross's Personal Life

Evan Ross got engaged to singer-songwriter Ashlee Simpson in January 2014. They got married on August 30, 2014, at his mother's home in Connecticut. They have two children together: a daughter born in 2015 and a son born in 2020. Evan is also the step-father to Ashlee's son from her previous marriage to musician Pete Wentz.
