Evening Shade is a small city located in the southwestern part of Sharp County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2022, about 429 people lived there.
History
On March 6, 2022, a strong tornado hit Evening Shade. This tornado was rated as an EF2, which means it was quite powerful. It caused damage to two houses in the town.
Name Origin
Evening Shade got its name in 1817. The name comes from how thick and dark the shadows were from the very tall pine trees on a nearby hill. It's often mentioned on lists of places with unusual or interesting names.
Geography
Evening Shade is located at these coordinates: 36°4′14″N 91°37′17″W / 36.07056°N 91.62139°W.
The town covers a total area of about 1.6 square miles (4.3 square kilometres). All of this area is land, meaning there are no large lakes or rivers within the town limits.

- Older students go to schools in Cave City, including Cave City Intermediate School, Cave City Middle School, and Cave City High School.
Before July 1, 2004, Evening Shade had its own school district. But on that date, the Evening Shade School District joined with the Cave City School District.
