Fabian Washington, born on June 9, 1983, is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). Fabian played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Oakland Raiders chose him as the 23rd overall pick in the 2005 NFL draft. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens and the New Orleans Saints.

Early Life and High School Sports
Fabian Washington grew up in Bradenton, Florida. He went to Bayshore High School. There, he was a talented athlete in three sports: football, basketball, and track.
In football, he was a four-year starter at cornerback. He also played wide receiver for two years. As a junior, he made three interceptions. He also broke up twelve passes. In his senior year, he had four interceptions and 60 tackles. He was very fast, running the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds.
Fabian was also a great track athlete. As a junior, he finished third in the 100 meter dash at the Florida State Meet. The next year, he won the district championship for the 100-meter dash.
College Football Career
Fabian Washington played college football at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He was a starting cornerback for three years. He left college early to join the NFL. The Oakland Raiders picked him in the first round of the NFL draft in 2005.
Fabian was chosen for the All-Big 12 team in all three of his seasons at Nebraska. He made 145 tackles during his college career. He also forced three fumbles and recovered two. Fabian was known for his ability to intercept passes. He caught 11 passes from opposing teams. He also broke up 38 other passes. These numbers put him among the top players in Nebraska's history.
In 2004, his junior year, Fabian started every game as a left cornerback. He had three interceptions and broke up 15 passes. He also made 41 tackles. As a sophomore in 2003, he intercepted four passes and broke up 10. He had a career-high 55 tackles that year. In his freshman year in 2002, he set a Nebraska record. He broke up 13 passes and tied another record with four interceptions. Fabian even scored a touchdown on his very first play as a Husker. He intercepted a pass and ran it back 29 yards. Professional Football Career

Playing for the Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders drafted Fabian Washington in the first round in 2005. He was the 23rd player chosen overall.
In his first year, he played in all 16 games. He started 11 of those games and made 40 tackles. In his second season with the Raiders, he started 14 games. He had 43 tackles and four interceptions. During his third season in 2007, he played in 15 games. He recorded 40 tackles and one interception. After this season, the Raiders traded him to another team.
Time with the Baltimore Ravens
On April 26, 2008, Fabian Washington was traded to the Baltimore Ravens. He wore jersey number 31 for the Ravens. In his first preseason game with the team, he made two interceptions.
On October 26, 2008, he played against his old team, the Raiders. He made a tackle on tight end Zach Miller. Fabian finished the 2008 season starting 12 games. He had 31 tackles and one interception. In a playoff game against the Miami Dolphins, he got one of the four interceptions thrown by their quarterback, Chad Pennington. The Ravens won that game 27–9.

In November 2009, during a game against the Indianapolis Colts, Fabian hurt his left knee. The injury was serious, and he missed the rest of that season. He signed a contract extension with the Ravens in May 2010.
Fabian was a starting cornerback for the Ravens in the 2010 season. However, after a difficult game against the Buffalo Bills, he was benched. Another player, Josh Wilson, took his starting spot.
Joining the New Orleans Saints
On July 31, 2011, Fabian Washington signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, he was placed on the injured reserve list on September 1, 2011, because of a hamstring injury. He was released from the team shortly after, becoming a free agent.
