Fair Oaks Ranch is a city located in the state of Texas, USA. What makes it special is that it spreads across three different counties: Bexar, Comal, and Kendall. In 2020, about 9,833 people called Fair Oaks Ranch home. The city is part of the larger San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Area. It was named after Ralph Fair Sr., an oilman who owned a very large cattle ranch in this area. His family decided to sell a part of the ranch in 1975 to create the community we know today as Fair Oaks Ranch.

A Look Back in Time
The land that Fair Oaks Ranch now sits on was first bought in the 1930s by Ralph Fair Sr. He was involved in the oil business and also raised cattle and racehorses.
How the City Began
In the 1970s, Ralph Fair Sr.'s family started to develop a residential community on a portion of the ranch. This new community officially became an incorporated city in 1988.

Fair Oaks Ranch is located on both sides of a waterway called Cibolo Creek. It is about 27 miles (43 kilometers) northwest of downtown San Antonio. The city is also about 8 miles (13 kilometers) southeast of Boerne. The city limits reach southwest to touch Interstate 10 at Exit 546.
