In July 2018, the organizers announced that the festival would not be held again.

Discovering Festival N°6

The very first Festival N°6 happened on September 14, 2012. About 6,500 people came to enjoy the event that year. It quickly became a popular festival, returning each year until its final event in 2018.

The Magical Village of Portmeirion

The festival was held in Portmeirion, a beautiful village in North Wales. It's located right on the coast of Snowdonia, in the county of Gwynedd. Portmeirion looks like an Italian coastal town, with many colorful buildings. An architect named Sir Clough Williams-Ellis built the village between 1925 and 1978.

The festival used the whole village, making it part of the fun. Main music events were held in nearby fields. The Italian-style buildings added to the festival's unique atmosphere. Activities and music stages were set up from the Colonnade Gardens to the River Dwyryd, and even on the beach.

Why "Number 6"? The TV Show Connection

The festival's name, "N°6," comes from a famous old TV show called The Prisoner. This show was mostly filmed in Portmeirion itself! The main character in the show is called "Number 6." He was played by actor Patrick McGoohan. In the series, Number 6 is a secret agent held captive in a mysterious village by the sea. This TV show made Portmeirion famous around the world.

Arts, Culture, and Fun Activities

Festival N°6 offered more than just music. It also included live poetry readings, comedy shows, and interesting talks. There were many other cultural activities too. The festival also had hands-on activities for everyone to join in. These included things like "Giant Mind," "Urban Sketching," and "Extraordinary Bubbles."

BBC Radio Wales often broadcast live from the festival. DJs like Adam Walton and Bethan Elfyn hosted their shows right from the festival grounds.
