Starting Out in Football

Florian started playing football when he was young. He was born in Neunkirchen, Austria. As a youth player, he played for teams like SVSF Pottschach and St. Pölten.

Playing for Werder Bremen

Joining Werder Bremen in 2013

Florian joined Werder Bremen on July 1, 2013. For his first two seasons, he played for the Werder Bremen U19 team and their reserve team, Werder Bremen II. In the 2013–14 season, he played 15 games for the U19 team and scored 11 goals. He also played 5 games for the reserve team. The next season, 2014–15, he played 26 games for the reserve team and scored 9 goals.

First Team Debut in 2015

Florian made his first appearance for Werder Bremen's main team in the 2015–16 season. This was a big step for him! He played a full game in the DFB-Pokal cup against Würzburger Kickers on August 8, 2015. He even helped set up a goal in that game.

His first game in the Bundesliga, Germany's top league, was on August 15, 2015. He came into the game against Schalke 04 as a substitute. Later that year, he got his first assist in the Bundesliga, helping Werder Bremen win against Mainz. Fans even voted him "Man of the Match" in a cup game because he played so well.

Scoring Goals in 2016–17

On March 18, 2017, Florian scored his second goal of the 2016–17 season. This was in a big 3–0 win against Leipzig. It was a special game because all three Austrian players on Werder Bremen's team scored!

Moving to Hoffenheim

On January 16, 2017, Florian signed a contract to join 1899 Hoffenheim. He started playing for them in the 2017–18 season.

He played his first game for Hoffenheim on August 26, 2017, which was a 1–1 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Florian scored his first goal for Hoffenheim on November 2, 2017, in a UEFA Europa League match. Even though he scored, Hoffenheim finished last in their group in that competition.

Things went much better in the Bundesliga! In the 2017–18 season, Hoffenheim finished in fourth place. This meant they got to play in the UEFA Champions League, which is a very exciting competition. Florian played for Hoffenheim for five seasons. He played in 151 games, scoring 8 goals and helping with 11 assists. He was a regular starter in most of these matches. In the summer of 2022, his contract with Hoffenheim ended.

Playing for Ajax and Back to Hoffenheim

After leaving Hoffenheim, Florian joined Ajax, a famous Dutch team, in September 2022. He played there for one year. Then, in 2023, he returned to Hoffenheim on a free transfer, signing a new contract until 2026.

Loan to Valladolid

On February 3, 2025, Florian went on loan to Valladolid, a Spanish team. He will play for them for the rest of the 2024–25 season.
