Flynn Cruiseport Boston is a very busy port in Boston, Massachusetts. It is where many large cruise ships arrive and depart. This port used to be known as the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal.

The port is owned and operated by Massport. Massport manages most of the Port of Boston. You can find Flynn Cruiseport in the Seaport District of Boston. It is usually open from March to November each year. The busiest time for the port is in the early fall. This is because many cruises to Canada and New England either start or stop here. In 2019, over 400,000 passengers used the port.

How the Port Got Its Name

The Flynn Cruiseport Boston was once called the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. In 2017, it was renamed to honor a former Boston mayor, Raymond Flynn. Mayor Flynn was the person who first opened the cruise terminal back in 1986.

Early Days and Renovations

When the port first opened in 1986, it welcomed 13 ships. About 11,723 passengers used the port that first year. Over the years, the port has been updated. The main part of the terminal had a big renovation in 2010. This project cost $11 million. A second terminal was also updated in 2015, costing $3.2 million. These updates help the port handle more ships and passengers.
