Francisco Javier López Alfaro (born 1 November 1962), known simply as Francisco, is a Spanish former professional football player and manager. He played as a central midfielder.

Playing Career: Clubs

Francisco was born in Osuna, a town in Andalusia, Spain. He played for two main clubs during his career: Sevilla FC, which was his hometown team, and RCD Espanyol. He played in 436 matches in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league.

He started his first season in La Liga in 1981–82. He played 20 games for Sevilla that year, scoring one goal. He helped his team finish seventh in the league.

In the 1992–93 season, Francisco's team, Espanyol, was moved down to a lower league. However, they quickly earned promotion back to the top league the very next year. Francisco was a very important player for the team during this time. He stopped playing football professionally in 1997, when he was almost 35 years old.

Managerial Career

After he stopped playing, Francisco became a football manager. He started by coaching the youth teams at Espanyol.

He then managed several other teams, including Coria CF, Real Jaén, CF Extremadura, UE Figueres, and CD Numancia. He was the manager for Numancia when they were in La Liga during the 2004–05 season. However, he was let go after only ten games, and the team was later moved down to a lower league.

In 2006, he joined CF Badalona, a team in Spain's third division. Later, he also managed CD Atlético Baleares and Sevilla FC C.

Playing Career: International

Francisco also played for the Spanish national team. He played in 20 games for Spain and scored one goal.

He was chosen to play in two big international tournaments: the UEFA Euro 1984 and the 1986 FIFA World Cup. His first game for Spain was on 27 October 1982. Spain won that game against Iceland 1–0.

At the 1984 European Championships, Spain reached the final. Francisco played in two matches during this tournament. One of these was the final game, where Spain lost 2–0 to the host country, France.
