Fraser is a city located in Macomb County, Michigan. It is a northern suburb of Detroit, about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown Detroit. In 2020, about 14,726 people lived in Fraser.

History of Fraser
The area that is now Fraser first became a village in 1894. It was named after Alexander J. Frazer, a lawyer from Detroit.
Fraser officially became a city on November 7, 1956. The people living there voted to make it a city on December 26, 1956.
Geography and Location
Fraser is in the southern part of Macomb County. It is about 6 miles (10 km) southwest of Mount Clemens, which is the county seat.
The city is shaped almost like a square. Its borders are 15 Mile Road, Kelly Road, 13 Mile Road, and Hayes Road. Fraser is surrounded by several other towns.
- To the north and northeast is Clinton Charter Township.
- To the southeast and south is Roseville.
- To the southwest is Warren.
- To the northwest is Sterling Heights.
A major road, M-97 (Groesbeck Highway), goes through the southeast part of Fraser. This highway connects Mount Clemens and Detroit.
Land and Water Areas
Fraser covers a total area of about 4.16 square miles (10.77 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 4.14 square miles (10.73 square kilometers). Only a small part, about 0.02 square miles (0.04 square kilometers), is water.
Two drains, Harrington Drain and Sweeny Drain, flow north through the city. Harrington Drain eventually joins the Clinton River. The Clinton River then flows into Lake St. Clair.
