Fred McNair was born on December 11, 1968. He is an American gridiron football coach and a former player. Currently, he is the tight ends coach for Southern University, a role he started in 2024. Before this, he was the head football coach at Alcorn State University from 2016 to 2023.

McNair played professionally as a quarterback. He played for teams like the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the London Monarchs in the World League of American Football (WLAF). He also played in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Florida Bobcats, Carolina Cobras, and Buffalo Destroyers. He played college football at Alcorn State. Fred McNair is the brother of Steve McNair, who was a famous Pro Bowl quarterback in the National Football League (NFL).
