Freddie George Bishop III (born February 25, 1990) is an American former professional football player. He was a defensive lineman, which means he played on defense and tried to stop the other team. Freddie played college football at Western Michigan University. He also played for several professional teams, including the New York Jets, Calgary Stampeders, Memphis Express, and Toronto Argonauts.
Early Life and High School Football
Freddie Bishop first played high school football at Robichaud High School. He was recognized as an "all-city" player during his freshman and sophomore years (2004 and 2005). In 2005, he also earned "All-Mega Conference" honors. He was named his team's Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2004.
Later, he moved to Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan. There, he continued to excel. He received "All-Huron League" honors in 2007. As a senior, he was named a first-team all-state player, which is a big achievement. He also received an "Honorable Mention All-Huron League" in 2006.
College Football Career
Freddie Bishop played college football for the Western Michigan Broncos. He was part of the team from 2009 to 2012. In 2008, he was "redshirted," meaning he practiced with the team but didn't play in games to save a year of eligibility.
In 2012, he was named Second-team All-MAC. This means he was one of the best defensive players in his college conference. He started all 12 games that year. He made 63 tackles, including 11.5 tackles that stopped the other team for a loss of yards. He also had four sacks, which is when a defensive player tackles the opposing quarterback. He was also named the Broncos' outstanding team player. In 2011, he was named a Third-team All-MAC Defensive End.
