Freddie George Bishop III was born on February 25, 1990. He is an American former professional football player. He played as a defensive lineman. Freddie Bishop played college football at Western Michigan University. He went to Robichaud High School and then Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan. He played for several teams, including the New York Jets, Calgary Stampeders, Memphis Express, and Toronto Argonauts.
Early Life and High School Football
Freddie Bishop started playing high school football at Robichaud High School. He was recognized as an "all-city" player in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he also earned "All-Mega Conference" honors. He was named the Team Defensive Most Valuable Player in 2004.
Later, he moved to Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan. There, he received "All-Huron League" honors in 2007. As a senior, he was named first-team all-state, which is a big achievement. He also received an "Honorable Mention All-Huron League" in 2006.
College Football Career
Freddie Bishop played for the Western Michigan Broncos from 2009 to 2012. He spent his first year, 2008, as a redshirted player, meaning he practiced but did not play in games.
In 2012, he was named Second-team All-MAC. This means he was one of the best players in his conference. He started all 12 games for the Broncos that year. He made 63 tackles, which are plays where he stopped an opposing player. He also had 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He was also named the Broncos' outstanding team player. In 2011, he was named Third-team All-MAC Defensive End.

Playing for the Detroit Lions (First Time)
Freddie Bishop signed with the Detroit Lions on May 14, 2013. This happened after the 2013 NFL draft, where he was not chosen by any team. He was with the Lions for a short time and was released on June 26, 2013.
Time with the Calgary Stampeders
Bishop then joined the Calgary Stampeders in Canada. He was signed to their practice team on July 16, 2013. He got a chance to play a lot because another player, Charleston Hughes, was injured. Freddie Bishop played a key role in the Stampeders' win in the 102nd Grey Cup. He made five tackles and one sack in that important game. The Grey Cup is the championship game of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Joining the New York Jets
Freddie Bishop signed with the New York Jets on February 5, 2016. He was released by the Jets on September 3, 2016, but then joined their practice squad the next day. He was later moved to the main team on December 10, 2016.
On September 3, 2017, Bishop was waived by the Jets again. He rejoined their practice squad the next day. He was promoted to the active roster on September 16, 2017. He was waived again on September 21, 2017, but re-signed to the practice squad on October 4, 2017. He was promoted back to the main team on October 7, 2017. On October 8, 2017, in a game against the Cleveland Browns, he recovered a fumble. This means he picked up the ball after an opposing player dropped it. On June 7, 2018, Bishop was waived by the Jets.
Back with the Detroit Lions (Second Time)
On July 23, 2018, Freddie Bishop signed with the Detroit Lions again. However, he was waived on September 1, 2018.
Playing for the Memphis Express
Bishop then signed with the Memphis Express. This team was part of a new league called the Alliance of American Football. He joined them on February 27, 2019.
With the Toronto Argonauts
After the Alliance of American Football stopped playing in April 2019, Bishop signed with the Toronto Argonauts. This is another team in the Canadian Football League. He joined them on May 22, 2019.

Freddie Bishop signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on December 29, 2020. On July 8, 2021, he unfortunately injured his Achilles' tendon during a workout. This injury meant he could not play. He was placed on the injured list on July 14, 2021.
