Gallt y Daren is a mountain peak located in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, North Wales. It is part of the larger Arenig mountain range. This peak is known for being a "top" of Moel Llyfnant, meaning it's a smaller peak connected to a larger one. Gallt y Daren is also special because it has two main tops, making it a "twin-peaked" mountain.

Gallt y Daren: A Twin-Peaked Welsh Mountain

Gallt y Daren is a mountain that stands at 619 meters (about 2,031 feet) tall. It is located to the west of its parent mountain, Moel Llyfnant. The name Gallt y Daren refers to the higher of its two peaks.

Understanding the Twin Peaks: Gallt y Daren and Foel Boeth

Many people often call this mountain Foel Boeth. However, it's a bit more complicated than that! Mountain lists, like the Nuttall list, recognize both of the mountain's tops as separate peaks. The higher peak is officially known as Gallt y Daren. The slightly lower peak, standing at 616 meters (about 2,021 feet), is called Foel Boeth. So, when you hear "Foel Boeth," it usually refers to the lower of the two twin peaks.

Incredible Views from the Summit

The very top, or summit, of Gallt y Daren is a rocky area. From this high point, you can enjoy amazing views. You can see the Rhinogydd mountain range and other parts of Snowdonia stretching out to the north. It's a great spot to take in the natural beauty of North Wales.
