River's Journey
The Gardon d'Alès river is about 60.6 kilometers (37.7 miles) long. It collects water from an area of 444 square kilometers (171.4 square miles). This area is called its drainage basin.
Where it Starts
The Gardon d'Alès begins in a place called Saint-Privat-de-Vallongue. This is in the Lozère department, high up in the Cévennes National Park. It starts at an altitude of about 780 meters (2,559 feet) above sea level. From there, the river generally flows towards the southeast.
Where it Ends
The Gardon d'Alès eventually joins another river called the Gardon d'Anduze. This meeting point is between the towns of Cassagnoles and Vézénobres, south of Alès. Here, the river is at an altitude of about 90 meters (295 feet).
