Garnedd Goch is a mountain peak found in the stunning Snowdonia National Park in north Wales. It's part of a famous line of mountains called the Nantlle Ridge. This peak is the third highest point along this ridge. Its name, Garnedd Goch, means "Red Cairn" in the Welsh language.

Exploring Garnedd Goch

Garnedd Goch stands at 700 meters (about 2,297 feet) above sea level. It is considered a "top" of Craig Cwm Silyn, which means it's a smaller peak connected to a larger one. Hikers often visit Garnedd Goch as part of their journey along the Nantlle Ridge.

The Summit of Garnedd Goch

The very top of Garnedd Goch is covered with rocks and stones. At the summit, you'll find two important markers:

  • A trig point: This is a special pillar used by mapmakers to measure distances and heights.
  • A cairn: This is a pile of stones built by people, often to mark a summit or a path.

From the top of Garnedd Goch, you can see amazing views. You might spot the Nebo TV mast in the distance. What's even more special is that Garnedd Goch is one of the few places where you can see three famous Welsh castles at once:

These castles are historic landmarks that tell stories of Wales' past. Seeing them all from one spot is a unique experience!
