Garrett Bartholomew Temple (born May 8, 1986) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Toronto Raptors in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the LSU Tigers.

Garrett Temple's Early Life and High School Basketball
Garrett Temple grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went to LSU Laboratory School. In his final year of high school, he was a star player. He helped his team, University High, win the 2004 Class 2A state championship.
Besides basketball, Garrett was also good at track and field. He was a specialist in the long jump and triple jump.
Garrett Temple's College Career at LSU
Garrett Temple played college basketball for the LSU Tigers. He spent his first year, 2004–05, practicing and improving his skills. When he started playing in games during the 2005–06 season, he quickly became known as a great defender. He played in almost every game and was a key part of the team.
In his second year, he was good at passing the ball. He had many assists compared to turnovers. He even traveled to China with an all-star team of college players. By his senior year, Garrett became LSU's all-time leader in minutes played. This means he played more minutes than any other player in the school's history! He also earned honors for his strong defense and was named to the All-SEC second team.
Garrett Temple's Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Garrett Temple was not chosen in the 2009 NBA draft. However, he didn't give up on his dream. He joined the Houston Rockets for the Summer League. He then started his professional career in the NBA Development League (now called the G-League).
Starting in the NBA D-League
Garrett first played for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in November 2009. This league helps players get ready for the NBA.
First NBA Chances
Garrett got his first chance in the NBA with the Houston Rockets in February 2010. He signed a short contract. He then played for the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs that same year. He kept working hard to prove himself.
Moving Between Teams
For several years, Garrett moved between different NBA teams and the D-League. He played for teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Bobcats. He also played overseas in Italy for Casale Monferrato. This showed his determination to keep playing basketball at a high level.
Finding a Home with the Washington Wizards
In December 2012, Garrett signed with the Washington Wizards. He stayed with the Wizards for several seasons. He became an important player for them. He even set new personal records for points scored in games. For example, in December 2015, he scored 23 points in a game against the Sacramento Kings. He showed he could score a lot of points in a row, which was a big achievement for him.
Returning to Sacramento and Other Teams
In July 2016, Garrett returned to the Sacramento Kings for a second time. He continued to be a strong player, known for his defense and three-point shooting. In January 2018, he scored a career-high 34 points in a game against the Orlando Magic.
After Sacramento, Garrett played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2019. He then joined the Brooklyn Nets for the 2019–2020 season. In November 2020, he signed with the Chicago Bulls.
Playing for His Hometown Team and the Raptors
In August 2021, Garrett was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. This was special because New Orleans is close to his hometown of Baton Rouge. He played for the Pelicans until July 2023.
On August 1, 2023, Garrett Temple signed with the Toronto Raptors. He re-signed with the Raptors in July 2024 and again in July 2025, continuing his long and successful NBA career.

Garrett Temple's Personal Life and Community Work
Garrett Temple comes from a family of basketball players. His father, Collis Temple, was the first African American to play basketball at LSU. Garrett also has two older brothers who played basketball at LSU.
Garrett is a Christian. He wears a wristband that says "In Jesus Name I Play." In 2020, Garrett married Miss USA 2017 winner Kára McCullough. They have two children together.
Helping Others Through Hoops2O
Garrett is part of a group of NBA players called the "Starting Five." This group includes Malcolm Brogdon, Joe Harris, Justin Anderson, and Anthony Tolliver. They work together to help people in need.
Their main goal is to raise money for Hoops2O, a charity started by Malcolm Brogdon. This charity helps build wells in East Africa. Wells provide clean water to communities. By February 2020, their efforts had funded ten wells in Tanzania and Kenya. These wells brought clean water to over 52,000 people, making a huge difference in their lives.
