George Huff's Early Life
George Huff grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He loved music and singing from a young age. He decided to try out for American Idol to share his talent.
His Time on American Idol
George auditioned for American Idol in Houston, Texas. He was part of the semi-finalists group. Even though he wasn't voted into the final round at first, he got a second chance. Judge Simon Cowell chose him as a "wildcard" contestant. This meant George could join the other finalists.
During his time on the show, people in his hometown of New Orleans cheered him on. Local TV stations even showed his family watching him perform. On May 5, 2004, George was voted off the show. He finished in fifth place. This happened after he sang two songs during "big band" week. The songs were "Cheek to Cheek" and "What a Wonderful World".
