George Michael Savitsky (born July 30, 1924 – died September 4, 2012) was an amazing American football player. He played as an offensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL).

Early Life and High School Football
George Savitsky was born in New York City. He grew up in Camden, New Jersey. George started playing football at Camden High School. He was the captain of his team in 1942. That year, his team had a perfect season and did not lose any games!
College Football Star
After high school, George went to the University of Pennsylvania to play college football. He was excellent at playing both offense and defense. He was known as a "two-way tackle." This means he played both offensive tackle and defensive tackle.
George was so good that he became an All-American four times. This was a very rare achievement in the 20th century. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1947. This was in the fifth round of the 1947 NFL draft.
College Football Hall of Fame
George Savitsky was recognized for his amazing college career. In 1991, he was added to the College Football Hall of Fame. This is a special place for the best college football players ever.
Professional Football Career
George Savitsky played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL. He helped the Eagles win two NFL championships. They won in 1948 and 1949. These were big wins for the team!
George was a very strong player. He was about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 252 pounds. Many people thought he was one of the best two-way tackles in college football history.
Life After Football
After playing professional football, George decided to try something new. The pay for NFL players was not very high back then. So, he went to dental school. He became a successful dentist in southern New Jersey. He had a long and happy career helping people with their teeth.
George lived in Ocean City, New Jersey. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 88.
